The Range Rover's interior is one of the most original and best executed we've seen in years. The dash alone features wood, leather, rubber, chrome and at least three different grades of plastic - the layout is elegant and logical. The 'contour' seats offer total adjustment and are among the best we've ever sat on. Sit in a Range Rover Sport model and you will see the difference is massive, it just doesn't compare with its Daddy!

From the outset the Range Rover was designed to retain a throne-like driving position. giving excellent all-round visibility and making the car easier to park and manage in traffic. Rear head and legroom are also much improved and the boot is vast. Land Rover claims the Range Rover is the "world's most capable vehicle, with the greatest breadth of ability of any vehicle ever made". . I don't think they are far from the truth with that statement!
Solihull's engineers had the courage to totally re-imagine the Range Rover, transforming its road manners without sacrificing its off-road ability. It can't quite match an S-class for ride or an Cayenne as a driver's tool, but it is remarkable that it gets very close to both yet can cross terrain that would defeat a Defender!
The only reservation to owning a Range Rover is the fuel consumption yet on a trip from the Lake district we achieved a credible 23mpg and with a sensible right foot and 18.3mpg around town last weekend which isn't far off the fuel demands of the diesel version. There again you could always go for a Gas conversion which would more than half the fuel costs!
